GP Cottonwood Stables

Meet Our School Horses!

Blue

Blue was born in 1998 and is a dark bay (almost black) gelding standing 15.2 hands high. Blue is a registered Paint under the name Truly Blue Classic. He is easy to identify as he is our only horse with blue (wall) eyes! Blue came to Cottonwood after retiring from a jumping career. Now his pastimes include resting, sunbathing, and eating bananas.

Chip

Chip was born in 2004 and is a pinto gelding standing 14.2 hands high. Like Blue, Chip is also a registered Paint horse, but Chip is a registered Pinto as well. Do you know the difference? (ask your coach at your next lesson.) His unique black and white coat sets him apart from the other horses. Chip is a seasoned BC Summer Games athlete and has competed two times representing Vancouver Island with Cottonwood students! In his spare time, Chip enjoys sleeping, spending quiet time alone, and grazing.

Joey

Joey was born in 2003 and is a palomino gelding standing 15.2 hands high. Joey’s breed is a cross of Paint and Bashkir Curly, giving him his characteristic curly mane, tail and feathers (did you know horses had feathers?). In his time off, Joey enjoys finding and eating the very best grass on the farm and hanging out with his best friend Castle.

Kuitan

Kuitan was born in 1997 and is a dark bay mare standing 14.1 hands high. Kuitan is a registered Morgan horse and before coming to Cottonwood she was a dressage pony. Kuitan feels very strongly about her personal space, especially when eating, and will let other horses know if they get too close!

Parker

Parker was born in 1996 and is a chestnut gelding standing 15.2 hands high. Parker is a registered Quarter Horse and after his retirement from Western riding, came to Cottonwood to begin his career teaching many, many students the basics of horsemanship. Parker enjoys letting us know when it is feed time and wading around in the stream.

Punkin

Punkin is the newest school horse to Cottonwood and was born in 2009. She is a dun pony mare standing 14.0 hands high; she is also our smallest pony! Punkin’s breed is a cross between a Welsh pony and a Quarter Horse. When not working, Punkin likes to trim all the grass she can reach underneath and through her paddock fence and nicker for her dinner. All. The. Time.

Stella

Stella was born in 2003 and is a grey mare standing 14.2 hands high. Stella is an Arabian and Quarter Horse cross. When she’s not working, Stella enjoys rolling in the dirt so that her riders have to put in extra time grooming, as well as flirting with Chip.
