Cottonwood is home to a variety of school horses and ponies so it is easy to match horses and students to suit each individual's needs.
Lessons are available to students aged 5 years and older (please inquire about younger riders), and to all experience levels, beginner through advanced.
Students have the opportunity to participate in spring and summer camps, schooling shows, Christmas fun days, rider level exams and teaching assistant programs.
Riders at Cottonwood are encouraged to enjoy learning good horsemanship skills and above all to have fun!
Selena Pellizzari is the head coach & owner of GP Cottonwood Stables, as well as the recipient of Horse Council BC's 2011 Coach of the Year award.
Accredited by Equine Canada as a coach in 1994, she is a Competition Coach Specialist, a provincially approved dressage judge and worked for 10 years at the Pacific National Exhibition in Vancouver managing the agriculture and horse shows. She has also worked in show and sales barns in Florida, California and Holland. Selena began riding western, hunter, jumper and eventing, but for the past 20 years has specialized in dressage, competing extensively in BC and the US.
We are pleased to welcome Monique Fraser as our new assistant coach and stable manager at Cottonwood as of October 2017.
Monique is an EC certified Competition Coach Specialist and brings decades of experience to Cottonwood, having run her own riding school on the Lower Mainland for many years. She has vast experience with competing, coaching, horse management and judging and is a familiar site in the judge's booth around the province. We are excited to have her as part of our team.
If you own your own horse, you are welcome to trailer to Cottonwood for lessons; there is ample room to maneuver your trailer around.
Cottonwood also attends a variety of dressage shows around the Island, with the coaches offering their students and boarders the support they need to excel in the show ring.
